seveneightfive LIVE is an all-volunteer, community internet radio station based in Topeka, Kansas, that provides locally produced programming that is reflective of the diverse voices, talents and interests of our broadcasters and listeners. As an extension of seveneightfive magazine, a for-profit quarterly periodical, station emphasis in programming includes arts, entertainment, lifestyle and local flavor.
- Provide an accessible venue for an eclectic mixture of arts programming
(increase individual creativity and self-empowerment)
- Support local talent by airing unrepresented music (encourage growth of artists)
- Build a platform for diversity by way of programming that enables Topekans to share ideas and opinions, facilitate dialogue, offer insights into cultures, ideologies and concerns exposing us to views of life unlikely to be seen in traditional media
(increase community pride and engagement)
We value radio because it is relatively easy and free to consume and produce; is readily accessible by many people across the state; does not require literacy or expensive equipment to connect; and is a proven tool for movement-building and cultural expression.
seveneightfive LIVE is committed to respect personal dignity. We believe debate is a necessary and healthy part of the discourse in broadcasting and community building, however, bigotry and personal attacks will not be tolerated. Programming is non-partisan. Our business is not your religion. Our platform explores varied beliefs, points of views and aesthetics. As a subsidiary to seveneightfive magazine, programming tends to be hyper-local, avidly pro-feminist, staunchly anti-racist and flamboyantly anti-homophobic.
