Howard Mahan’s blues were born and bread in Kansas. A strong solo performer and recorder, Mahan also does studio work for-hire, occasionally plays with legendary Texas bluesman, Randy McAllister (in his Scrappiest Band in the Motherland) and also fronts MAHAN, a blues-rock trio with friends and fellow musicians Landon Livingston [percussion + vocals] and Tim king [bass + vocals].
The chords of MAHAN were formed early on, as the trio of friends have been making music together for over a decade. But the band, MAHAN, pronounced may-han, was born November 2017 after an all-night garage jam session turned into personal dares and dreams to see “just how far they could go playing the music they love.”
Described as “Roadhouse Rockin’ Blues” MAHAN’s style is based in blues, but never really stops there. If Shadden’s BBQ Shack (just outside Helena, Arkansas – a must stop if going to The King Biscuit Blues Festival) served a musical sandwich, MAHAN would be world famous. T-Bone Walker flavored with B.B. King and spiced with a bit of Miles. Served straight off the grill, in rock’n’roll fashion, approved by The Winery Dogs and Motley Crue.
